Away in a Manger: Devi & Laxmi

When I saw Laxmi standing with her mother, Devi, I thought she was the most beautiful calf I had ever seen.

She is white with markings that look like an artist had painted her. Her mom is a beautiful cow and an amazing mother. Considering how young she was, she took her role seriously. She was a baby having a baby.

Devi’s savior rescued her from a dairy farm facing financial trouble. She boarded her at a small sanctuary. The farmer who sold her assured her rescuer that Devi had never been with any male cows.

Unfortunately, the sanctuary farm where she lived was limited in the number of cows they could have and Devi’s secret was that she was pregnant.

Around Christmas, Devi was looking for another home. She delivered her lovely baby in a manger at the sanctuary. The rest of the story is a holiday miracle.
